Hi i'm thinking of buying Minecraft, but if I buy minecraft on an account and change a skin, then i play the server with a different username, would i still have that skin?

What do you mean?
If by different username you mean that you will be playing with a different account, then you won't still have the skin.
The skin applies the the account that you have paid for.
