Installing textures easily!

I have been trying to install the Texture pack "RPG" on minecraft but I just can not get it to work I have followed the steps in the readme file exactly.

Did u just opened the minecraft.jar in the bin file without putting the textures in?

did you have the file named RPG.bmp or whatever file extention?
if so then rename it to look like
char.png
that worked for me :D

not the RPG folder, but the contents, drag the contents into the jar file

Yeah, you need to rename your skin to char.png

You need to take the contents in the main folder to the main part of minecraft.jar and then take the files in the folders in the texture pack folder and put them in the corresponding minecraft.jar folders (Ex. Gui stuff goes in the gui) make sure to do every individual file, and not just replace one folder with the other.

Tried all your advice and I am still having no luck, thanks for the suggestions though guys.. now it just freezes on 90% load when I try to open minecraft.
