Jungle Temples and Pyramids in Deserts

I think the additions of Pyramids and Jungle Temples are really cool, but I can never find one! I live near a desert biome and a jungle biome and have gone searching in both after installing 12w22a and the snapshot before. I have a few questions:

1. How often do they spawn? (also, I made my world in 1.2.5 - will they spawn?)
2.Are there any programs to help find one in my world?
