My wife has a brand new Windows 7 laptop with better specs than my desktop. I run my server on my desktop. Like it's my server open on my computer. However, whenever she gets on, via World of Minecraft or no, it says that it fails to connect and the server's probably down. While I'm sitting watching the console and watching other people get on and talk. Anybody know what might be wrong with it?

How is she connecting to it?

Is the server classic or SMP (beta)?
Can't connect to SMP via World of Minecraft Game Client

Is the link correct?
Your wife will need to connect via local ip not the external link.

Classic Example:
http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?ip=192.168.1.10&port=25565

To get your local ip for your desktop:
Start -> Run -> Type "cmd" -> Press Enter -> Type "ipconfig"

Beta Example:
She will need to click multiplayer and type in your ip address with port. "192.168.1.10:25565"

I hope this helps. Let me know if you experience any further troubles :)

Nope

Instead of getting a failed to connect, the screen just came up black and didn't change. Tried several times. By the way, it is a classic server. I can't believe I was dull enough to forget that information.

I'm surprised no one else has had this problem...
