Hi, I have a pretty epic single player map that i'm trying to turn into a private server for a few buddies.
The only video that tells me how to do this must have outdated software, as it tells me to run minecraft_server.exe to create the server files, claiming it will create a World folder much like the World folder in the Appdata save folder for .minecraft.
Instead, my server software has a start_server.bat (windows batch file) that I click on to create the server files... but it doesn't do it in the same format as the .minecraft Appdata folder... instead it creates several loose files, including a server_level.dat file, but no world files.
I tried to replace the server_level.dat file with the level.dat file from the appropriate single player save file... but i couldn't even get it to load in omen.
does any1 have an update for how to copy a single player world into multiplayer using the current server software?
thanks for your help!
well, from what i hear, it is possible... you just have to open the level on omen, and change the borders to something acceptible by multiplayer standards (every border is limited, and divisible by 2).
i just read on another thread that the link to the server software on minecraft.net isn't the current one, only the link on minecraft.net/downloadable, so when the website comes back up, i'll try that
First off, you didn't state whether you are tying to put the single player map in Creative or Alpha. If you are trying to transfer a map from single player to alpha, then Find you Appdata, and open up .minecraft.
I have the same problem. I created an open build, single player level in Minecraft Classic. I downloaded the server files from the website, and now i need to get my level to load into that multiplayer server. Help please?
