Hey!
I am a Minecraft player, and I have just started myself a Minecraft community, but I need some testers and some honest feedback! So I would like to ask anyone here for some support with this!
So what I want you to do is that you visit my site http://www.minecraftnews.net and register and help me test the forum, do some posts and most of all visit the feedback section and give me some feedback on what I need to improve or what you think is good.
Everyone that registers to help me with this will bee in the competition for 5 Minecraft accounts (4 accounts left to raffle) So there is something in it for you to, except that you can be a part of my lovely Minecraft community ! :)
And you can always check out mine and other members videos and pictures of Minecraft :)

Okey, great! But how come that it is so hard to get some activity? :) What do I need to do to increase movement on the forums? any suggestions ?

It would e nice if you integrated a spell checker like most other sites into your Forum. I constantly mispell words by missing a letter so it would be nice to have a integrated spell checker. BTW, Good luck with the site. It seems like a nice place.

Well there should be an option for spell check, but I think it works with your browser, so it can be a conflict there, I use Opera as browser and I have integrated spell control in my browser so I have it on all sites :) Firefox and I guess Chrome also have the spell control.
Thank you, only problem I have is to get people to actually signing up and being active in the forum , but I did see a post from you :) With some excellent suggestions about improvements for Minecraft :)

Site looks great, dial up friendly, loads ALOT better than World of Minecraft for me.
Registration felt fast paced and comfortable, didn't feel rushed to complete it like some sites.
Forums are really nicely organized, I love this.

Colour scheme is very off putting.
The use of percentages in the width is good for page scaling, but I think the actual amount of page it covers is a bit too much.
The top quick login bar needs fixing. Essentially, get rid of the "connect with facebook" and place it on the register or login page instead of the front page.
The quick search bar is very hard to spot, once again down to the color scheme. You have two facebook like buttons in the same place on the front page. No idea what they're there for.
On the right hand side, the latest posts. The topic title should be before the post content or have a small font size. Either way, it should have a maximum string size before being truncated on the front page.
The very top bar is off putting. You have a huge amount of real estate space just being wasted for a small logo.
The general flow of content is fine, but it's powered by VB. What do you expect.
The footer, once again, collides with the main colour scheme, along with they very bottom tiny advert footer.
I could literally nitpick both the content and the design of the site all day.
But good job so far, at least you're trying to be different.

Ye I agree with the colors, but I am working on the colors, I did rush a bit to get the site up and running before the halloween update, so it diden't get perfect, and many colors are to bright and a bit wierd togheter.
The logo is a png file, so it will be big / small depending on the resolution on each and everyones computer, but I need to get it working so it will adjust after every user, but same thing here, I rushed into the site.
You see two facebook buttons, it buggs time to time, it should be one twitter and one fb , and connect to facebook have a good use, easy access to facebook generates more visitors :)
I did need this feedback, because when working alone it is so easy to forget and get blind when looking at something all day! So it is good to have some fresh eyes to give criticism , I thank you for that!
And I will check in to your points one by one to see what I can improve!

*Log out time set to 1800 seconds , this will also be the count for "who's online" after 1800 seconds you do not count as online
*Posts and threads in the forum will only be marked as read when you have read / looked at everything in the section / thread, all pages and all posts. after 3 days with no activity in a thread it will be marked as read.
*Changed the URL icon from Vbulletin original to the Minecraft "M" from our logo
*New logos for the "Importent links" at front page.
*We have our own Mumble server (Vocie and live chatt)
*Made a link on the front page that goes direct to server information
*Added a slide show on the front page to the left over our Skins
So the first time all posts and threads will be marked as unread because I have changed the option.
I will edit this post when I have made some new changes.

I tried about 5 times to register, every time there was something wrong. I tried putting you as the referrer, that made me redo it twice, and then 3 times more the captcha was incorrect

The site is nice, you're off to a good start.The color where the Home,Fourm,and whats new bar is not all that great, id have to say. it doesnt go with the color scheme of the rest of the site. Also when i was registering, it was telling me that i was like putting in an invalid refrence.......Im not sure that its possible to enter that wrong. Otherwise, its good. i will visit the site regularly, Good job so far!

your website looks really solid. what you can do is split everything in categories (which you already have) although still post the most recent and biggest news in the front page. you can have a support category where people can ask if they are having problems with any new things. as for the design its pretty good for a start. you can put all the categories in the top bar so it will be way easier for people to find what they need. in the side you should only keep the recent news, post etc.you might also wanna put some cool backgrounds to the site since a gray page looks kind of blank. i have some minecraft backgrounds im working on and i will pm you them as soon as im done. also the sign in box in the top right corner makes the banner look bad so you might want to put it in the side.

Well I think the front page with different categories and so on is good because you have a hole menu to the left where you easy get access to all the different places on the site, and on the forums I have loads of support options and feedback alternatives :)
I would LOVE if some of you could take a print screen of the site so I can see the way you see it and see from your perspective! :)

About the registration 5 times, I really can't say what the problem is in that case, but I would suggest to restart your browser because I think that info is saved in your cache

Seems like an enjoyable community website so far. We are both kind of in the same boat at the moment. I recently started a new Minecraft community website and gallery called www.minecraftrevolution.com in corresponse to my YouTube channel. I would also greatly appreciate anyone's feedback; although, I am sorry to say I can not offer anyone free Minecraft accounts at the moment (admin and moderator positions are accepting applications though).

This thread is very old but I like the fact that you guys have been checking out the site, and I just want to tell everyone that the competition this thread was about "the free accounts" are done, but we have a building contest in the making right now! We have total gave away about 10 accounts the last months!
