well im new to minecraft. i just bought it a few days ago and i built quite a bit on one of my worlds and i died and the spawn was quite some distance from where i was building and i cant find where i was building. is there anyway to easily find it? like a map or something showing where i am and where ive been type of thing. or any sudjestions on finding it...

i would make a breadcrumb trail if i could find where it was i was building. i guess i should have made the trail b4 i got lost. lol im wondering around, hopefully i find it soon. i think im gonna kill myself so i can start over at the spawn because ive been wondering around for a couple hours and cant find it. i know about the distance i was from the spawn so im gonna start over in my search because i hae no idea where i am at the moment.

It's called a compass you can craft it with iron incgots and redstone.
You craft it as follows: (Iron Ingots = I and Redstone Dust =R)

So basicly it is iroon around redstone. BUT, the compass only leads you back to your spawn point. So it is useful for epic journeys into the unknown but not for finding your spawn. What you can do is make a path back to your building from your spawn using a "breadcrumb trail so to speak. I like using torchs or even just make an underground tunnel system so your safe from monsters at night. Hope this helped -Tim
