Minecraft -- BETA QUESTION -- Seriously Need Help!

When BETA comes out, will we lose our current saved files? I have heard that some people lost theirs in some previous upodates, will we? I really wanna know because I don't want to lose my world that I have created!
I have not done that much to be honest, but it would be nice to know before hand.

most likely he sead that dont get to into alpha cuz when beta or the real game comes it will get deleted....

With all the updates that Notch has put out a small percentage of people have lost there saves. The only answer to your question is to back up your file.
