Minecraft CD on XBOX360

Hello. I have purchased Minecraft CD for our XBOX 360. My son is autistic and was advised this would be great for him. He loves it :) However, I am trying to learn this game to help him play. He watches Dan The diamond Minecart and sees all these cool things to do but it is in MODS. What is the difference between MODS and the CD. Can what is done on the MODS be done on the CD. And lastly, does the CD need to be updated if there are new things made to the game. If, so how do I do this from the XBOX 360.

Mod is short for modified/modification. Mods are on the PC version because people are able to use various software to create and apply them. Xbox and playstation use defined software that doesn't allow modding. You can use texture packs and player skins to change the look though. But you can build amazing things still in vanilla (unmodded) Minecraft. If you want some ideas you can either check out our pc server or just search vanilla minecraft on youtube.
