Minecraft Is Extremely Slow

The Minecraft website is loading very slowly, sometimes not at all. It doesn't let me log in, in client and in browser because it is just loading so slowly. I checked the blog and various forums but found no recent thread about this. Just wondering if this is just me or everyone.

It is because the server is "down" If you read notch's twitter it says he is going to fix it. The server is still running though it is just running extremely slowly and you will not be able to download updates or connect to any servers
