When I try to join a server, my World of Minecraft client shows a box in which it says
"Minecraft failed to start"
"java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 0"
I am running windows xp on a MacBook Pro and I have no idea what is wrong
I have tried to reinstall Java, World of Minecraft and minecraft.jar, but the error is always the same
can someone please help me?

There is no way around it, if you don't do this, don't bother playing minecraft classic. The old version of minecraft is only compatible with Java 6!!!! Just a sidenote, you will not receive further support from me if you refuse to not uninstall java 7 and install java 6.
