Minecraft launcher Trouble

I went to play minecraft and the launcher fails to connect to minecraft, but i can go on minecraft.net and play so minecraft isn't down. Anyone else having problems with the launcher connecting?

i am too, it says it cant connect to minecraft.net, and when i go to play in browser it disconnects me from safari completely when i try loading single player, and it says access denied when i try logging onto the server i play on
