Hey Everyone!
I'm new to the forum, and this is my first post. I'm experiencing some problems with my minecraft. So here's the story, today in school i opened minecraft on my dell to show my friends. I climbed a large ladder and accidently fell to my death. -.- i respawned and walked back to my stuff and right before i was about to collect it, my computer ran out of battery. I later turned it back on and open the new 1.3_01 beta launcher and went to singleplayer and found that my save file has dissapeared. I checked the save file in .minecraft and i could clearly see my world there, but Minecraft isn't recognizing it.
What's wrong? I just built a huge circuit redstone that ive been working on for three days, a calculator, and would hate to see that, and the rest of my world, not work anymore.
Does anybody know how to fix it?????
Always backup before you play. :)
Ok everyone i managed to fix it by renaming the level.dat_old file to just level.dat and vise versa and the launcher actually loaded the the last save file instead. Once I went on the game it overwrote the corrupt file solving the problem! :D
my loader wont load the save when i rename the files -.- HEEEELP!!!
ok ok, so are you sure you renamed the files to the right names? also, which operation system do you have? i have windows 7 so it may be different
yea im sure i did :/ and i have Win 7, i think its the new region files/worlds that does it... :/ idk

Because it didnt get a chance to save, sounds like it has corrupted. I don't know how to fix it, suggest you contact the official Minecraft Forums.
