Minecraft Slow on Gaming PC (details inside)
This PC has a i7 920 Quad and SLI GTX 275's amd 12gb of RAM. I use it mainly for BF3 and other high performance games, but Minecraft, after maybe 5 mins, getting either too slow to play (1-2 fps) or shuts down claiming it has no memory left. ive redownloaded Minecraft and made sure my Java is up to date.. but no luck. any advice or more info needed?
how would i go about changing
how would i go about changing the allocated memory? im almost sure thats what it is, because when i do F3 it says i have 1gb of ram allocated.
Euhm, that is unfortunately
Euhm, that is unfortunately one of a few things I do not know how to do. It is going to have to be World of Minecraft personal that'll have to explain it. I just know of the issue. Sorry mate :(

The question isn't of how powerful your computer is, it is how much Ram is Minecraft allocated to use? I personally can say I have 8 gig Ram but Minecraft only uses 4 gig. Another issue may be, as I call it, bloatware, software that runs but is not needed and or software running you may need later but is consuming so many resources that you might as well shut it down. Check task manage and then processes.
On the other hand, it could just be java running in its native form, I've noticed my fps is extremely low if I run with sound on, and if I try to reinitialize sound it crashes. If you can get the game to stay up long enough with the 1-2fps, press F3 I think it is to check what is using what, such as the terrain generator using most of the allocated ram, which check that also to see how much Minecraft even has allocated. Also, if you run in full window mode, it may run harder than if you run it in a window.
Two questions I would like to know, how much ram is allocated to MC, and are you using hardware or software graphics acceleration for 3D mode?
Assuming your talking of beta...
