I am currently starting up my first Minecraft server. It's only open to a few people for now, to get the primary development done. Soon I will open the server to more and more people. Anyone is welcome on it - anyone but griefers, who will be immedietly banned.
I'm looking to "hire" people for my server, to help make the server bigger and better, until finally we have a super server (with out the use of cheats or /give)! Hurry to apply for a job, which are as follows:
Builder (Building. Duh.)
Herder (Working with animals)
Warrior (Protects against mobs and enemy area natives)
Guard (Puts grivers to justice and collects tax)
King/Queen (Basically, another word for the admins. Please respect them.)
Merchant (Collects his or her own wares or is given wares by a King or Queen to trade or sell, as long as the King or Queen of the area gets a fraction of the profits. If the wares are collected by the merchant, not as much "money" goes to the king or queen)
Miners (I shouldn't have to explain this one, but they gather minerals for their King or Queen's area to use, such as coal)
Banker (protects civillians items by depositing them in chests, which, by the way, are handily labeled with signs :) ANY THEIVES WILL BE IMEDIETLY BANNED. CIVILLIANS ITEMS ARE HIGHLY PROTECTED BY GUARDS AND ARE KEPT IN A NON-BURNABLE ROOM)
For now, those are the possible jobs. Ones that don't recieve a profit from their job are paid by the King or Queen's money that they earn from taxes.
Terraland (that's the name of the server) is divided into areas, like how towns or citys make up a state. Each area has its own King and/or Queen. It is their choice whether or not they want to befriend the civillians of other areas, or be constantly at war, theiving from and fighting each other in epic battles. Note: If someone from one area steals or just bothers the crap out of someone from another area, its not considered griefing, depending on how far it goes.
Builders cannot build or take from areas beyond their area's limits/dividing line, or whatever you wanna call it. However, Civillians and some workers can, depending on the reason.
The Kings and Queens cannot decide on their own area's limits. Those will be decided by me as the server grows and needs more areas. If the Kings and Queens decided their own area's limits, they would most likely take up too much space, etc. But don't worry, the areas won't be small or anything. The biggest areas will probably even be too large to walk all the way through, or even walk to from the spawn point. So, the King/Queen can spawn you to the area.
More specifically, the main area in which I am admin for (called "Terra City"), will be the first and largest of all the areas. I'm leaving the area completely empty (purposely), so the talented builders I select can use it as a clean canvas and build a Utopia.
I'm currently accepting job applications, so please comment and specify the job you would like.
This is not required, but if possible, add proof you are NOT a griefer and why you deserve this job.
For Terra City, I'm seeking out only the best Workmen/Workwomen. To highten your chances of earning your desired position in the City, tell why you are the best and most worthy person for this job.

You could be both, if you wanted. But you have to go through both tests.
Builders: The King asks you to build three structures, all of them your best work. He wants them to be very, very creative and able to stand out. Name the things you would build, and use good description.
Kings (admins): PM me, telling me why you should be King. The more of these you include, the better chance you have of getting King: backstory, server history, and/or how long you've had Minecraft.

I think there should be somekind of system of money
The function for of jobs should be like this=
Banker: Protect buildings
Guard: people who ban people griefing
Merchant: people who sells buildings
EDIT: ill build hotels as builder
EDIT2: I think the money will be for buying buildings and paying people to build or repair something

Erm...you can't make drawbridges yet. They're planned, but it's gonna be a complex Redstone circuit, and probably special blocks too.

If so, I wanna be someone like that. I like being sneaky and stuff. And I like sabotage. It's fun. (Despite what I'm saying, I don't grief. Unless I'm given permission to do griefer like activities by an admin. :P)
Thing sounds fun. If I can get a job like that, I'd also help out if there's a worker shortage for a job or something. Maybe do work with Redstone if needed or something, other odd jobs like that?

If you want to have that position, it's yours. But you could also work two jobs, to get twice the pay. Like, for example, half-time miner, half-time <insert random job here>.

In that case I'd like to do an odd combo. I have the feeling that people will want to keep their belongings but I'd like to be the banker/miner. Under the condition that I can build my own bank.

Finally; someone to work as banker. Feel free to build your own bank; just be sure to include a counter or soemthing for the bankers to stand behind when working and so civillians or citizens or whatever can stand on the other side and deposit items, etc. All that I ask is you let me supervise the construction while you build the safe, in which all the villagers' chests are in (which need to be labeled with their username). I have to make sure it is 1) non-burnable 2) hidden, only the bankers can know where it is and 3) Always being protected by guards. I will supply the material for building the bank. (gosh, thats a long comment.)

The server should be up today, if not, very soon. Those few people who already have jobs should log on as soon as possible to help get the early stuff done. First thing we need built is a tower or castle, and we're probably going to need a lot of builders for that. So, everyone who wanted builder just lucked out: Lewbz, Aerosol, and YukonAppleGeek: Don't worry about answering those questions anymore (the "three structures" test). You all get jobs as Terra City Builders. Anyone who applies for builder from here on out will have to take the three structures test.

hey i have quite a bit of experience with minecraft single player and ive been looking for a multiplayer server to play on, id happily accept all most any position, allthough miner and builder would be my favorite.

We ave a lot of builders and miners, but no guards, and we need them for the bank. Maybe you could be a part-time guard, and a part-time builder. (twice the pay!) As a guard, you are aloud to kill other players if 1) they try to steal from the bank 2) They are being disrespectful to you or the King when it is their time to pay taxes. Sound good?

Okay, you can sure be a guard. But to be a builder, please answer this:
The King is bored and wants you to build him 3 structures. They can be buildings, statues, etc. Just something to brighten up the city and keep the king happy.
What 3 things do you build? (be creative, ex. Giant hamster cage!!)

i tottally forgot i bought this game and posted here already ahahahah but ya anywaysss i would probably build some crazy complex wall systems first of all with secret passage ways and look out towers, maybe add some gargoyles and creepy stuff, if you wanted it happy and peacfull maybe a big huge tree that the WHOLE city is in ;) or atleast part :P we could have an atrium i would be legit ;)

I have one question. Could you maybe change "Herder" to "Farmer" or something of the like. The Farmer could then supply the king/queen/merchants/customers with wheat, bread, pork, (grilled/raw) leather,(fish raw/grilled,) eggs and feathers.
Maybe they could farm wood, (and cactus) also and thus selling wooden products (and cactus), should there be a need for it (or simply people that are too lazy to go and get it themselves).
Another job I think would be possible to include would be a "Refiner/merchant" (think of it as a general store) of sorts, making tools, furniture, decorations and all that available for those that have just started (or again is to lazy to do it themselves).
Example selling a stone tool, a fishing rod or a furnace to a new player, or a jukebox, clock or compass to someone able to afford such a things. As well
as selling more advanced building materials like bricks and stairs. I think that it would be profitable to sell armors of different types, minecarts, minetracks, (TNT,) and bookshelves also.
Another thing (sorry about the long post) could be that the miners supply ores and stone to the refiner and coal to the farmer (to the furnaces, gilling and what not). A supply chain if you'd like.
Example: Miner sells iron/steel to the refiner that makes a product of it (bucket) that then sells it to a consumer or a "travelling merchant" that sells it to a consumer and so on.
What do you think about this idea?
Oh and I'd like to apply for farmer if that's okey then. =D (And build my own farm)

Okay, so that makes you the first farmer here. And you can build your own farm, or (since you'll be supplying the king) the king will pay a builder to do it for you (if you want). And don't worry about the long posts: if you ask me, every other post is too short! (i love reading what people have to say, especially when its long. - keeps me occupied in such a boring enviorment, which by the way is my house, and it helps me make improvments for the server and gives me ideas.)
Which, by the way, I'll use these ideas. they're really good.
Now, about farming: You'll be provided a huge flat plot of land with a few trees, a pond (with reeds or course), and a lot of flowers. It will be surrounded by fencing with an openable entrance for you. your animals will spawn here, and you can use them for resources or whatever you use them for. You will then be provided your second flat plot of land for farming, etc, etc, etc.

So i was thinking, could people build their own buildings like an arena or a hotel? or there can be some sort of colony in the Nether, like the place in Avatar( you know, Pandora and the wierd metal they were lookin for?) Because maybe i can make some shelter in the Nether so that you can make lanterns with the materials, also the fireplaces in the castle would last longer with redstone.

Hey0 Mod and hMod is the same thing... ^^ Hey0 is the guy that made it and hMod is the name of the mod it self.
The Iconomy plugin I told you about before is an economy plugin (big surprise) With it comes a virtual currency so we won't have to use paper or gold or something like that. :D With it comes a world shop (that you can disable (I think)), the ability to open shops, auction things and stuff like that.
But if you want to use it or not is up to you.

This looks interesting to me, i would play as whatever. But I have some concerns regarding how successfulness it would be. Not many people are going to be able to stay on for hours at a time. Even if they could, who's really going to want to sit around guarding a bank all day? Are there going to be enough people for the banker to actually have a job to do at all times?

This sounds like a fun server you've got going. Being that I cant think of one job to pick, would it be possible to be sort of a Jack-of-all-Trades? The Jack could go around freelancing or finding work, then getting paid for the work he does by the employer. eg. A merchant is in need of some coal and there's no miners around, so the Jack could get some for him. Just a thought.
If being a Jack is not possible, then I would like to be a warrior, seeing that nobody else is.

I can also be just one or pretty much any rank you need.
If the king ordered me to build somethings (three things) I would build a subway. (Minecarts, Yay!), a castle security system (redstone, yay!) and a minecart-based storage system (minecarts and redstone, yay!)
Come to think of it, could there be a technician rank?
I would definitely take that, I'm very good with redstone and circuits and the like.
Btw, I also use hmod, and I would recommend to your brother to use a plugin called authcraft, it's very helpful, I can recommend a few more that he can research if you want. I know it's hard entering all the commands and ranks, I'm sorry for suggesting a new rank.

Im assuming that when the server goes up, everything will be fresh with no sign of mankind, so is it possible if i could be something like a pathfinder? So let's say this, a miner has just hit the wrong block and he goes falling into the sea. Well i might make a base where he can reside until he is healed and given survival gear. Or make a settlement in the Nether, collect firestone and the lightstone. Thoughts or feelings?

I truly enjoy farming and mining in minecraft. I know how to create mob traps with or with out mob spawners, strip mine, automatic cacti farming and other useful tips to help your server. Thank you for considering and I may also have a couple friends join also and work on my farm with me. ( I am really into this and have come up with plans and ideas for this fun project. :)

It feels odd having to prove im not a greiver because ive struggled to keep greivers out of my own server, but i can only promise that i wish to just have a fun time, and I always respect others work. If you need any credentials or whatever let me know, i can send screenshots or whatever, but I would love to get to work as soon as possible.
