Earlier today, I got on the main World of Minecraft server and became a member and the logical next step was to get the hacks that let you fly and noclip.  I went to the downloads section and downloaded the client and minecraft.jar and put the files in a new folder on the desktop and the minecraft.jar file in the lib folder.  I then ran the run.bat file and put in my info only to find out that when I actually try to join the World of Minecraft server, I can't.  I figured that because I've got a custom built 64-bit Vista that it probably just wouldn't work so I deleted all the files and just tried to get back on through Firefox to ask for help.  I then got on Firefox, tried to join the server, and sat there for 5 minutes while Java froze and died like it was outside at night in the antarctic.  Where I stand now, I've put the client files back on the computer and the minecraft.jar file right back in the lib folder in the new folder on the desktop and not only does that not work but Firefox and Google Chrome can't get Minecraft back to running order for me.  I can still play single player survival at least and I haven't bothered trying indev or infdev or even single player creative yet but I wanted to come on here and see if there was some simple solution I'm missing.  Also, I did a search for this subject on the forums and nothing came up that was even close to the problem I'm having but if there's already a thread for this problem, my apologies in advance.

Edit: It turns out that the main World of Minecraft server is the ONLY thing that doesn't work and my browser or the client freezes every time it gets to the connecting stage.  I can even connect to other World of Minecraft servers through my browser but I don't want to risk trying with the client again until I can find out what's making the main server so inaccessible to me.
