hey, i recently started using minecraft classic in browser, but it wont work. it asks me if i want to run the application, i say run and then it goes black.. (minecraft play screen). i have a macbook pro with mac os x lion and i have tried firefox, chrome and safari. im pretty sure i have the newest java, cause on macs it updates with the software udater, and it says everything is up to date... :)

You can try that or even goto womjr.com/Game_Client and download the game client for Mac OS. Its a fast simple download (if you don't have it already) and fun to use. If that doesn't even work, try manually updating java just to make sure its all up to date. If it still doesn't work, I dont know what to tell you. Someone else may have a better answer but until then, just try this.
