I was trying to get the client then found that in order to install that you need the minecraft.jar file but when I go to dl it I am told I am not premium? However people say you don't need to pay to get the file. So how do I get it?

You need to buy Minecraft first I guess. It will also tell you the same thing when you DO download Minecraft and play it without having Premium I think, but I tried to get it while it was in Alpha but when it went in Beta I realized I had to pay for it.
