Hi all i've tried to download the minecraft.jar file in downloads then the client its just the client no minecraft.jar file there i need it to run the game upload it please

i dowloaded the file , then a file saying minecraft launcher comes out and it ask me for me password and my username i but it and it comes out that i have to paly online to enable offline but the thing is that ive already played minecraft online so i dont whats wrong can u help me
