Missing Iron Golem. Is that really possible? [SOLVED]

I had two Iron Golem on my farm that I had claimed with a gold shovel and fencing. The two Iron Golem are now gone! A player did said to me that "a player can kill them, if they're lucky". Is that possible, on a claimed land with a fence all around? If not, then what happen to them. Do they wear out like Iron Tools?

We need a way to breed golem, when you feed them each an iron block :P

I'm not sure about this, but I think you can kill mobs in claims areas with a bow if you are outside the area.
It is also possible that it got attacked by so many zombies that it died.
