Mouse speed issues

Hello, world!

Whenever I get into a server (or offline play, too -- basically, when minecraft.jar starts), my Windows mouse speed gets reset to default. This is really slow for me, and I always have it cranked up to max because the mouse hardware I have sends input slowly, so I crank up my Windows mouse speed setting to make up for it). However, as soon as I start playing, the mouse speed resets! This happens 9 times out of 10 for me--what I mean is, there has been the odd time when it HASN'T changed. I actually went into Control Panel > Mouse > blah blah, and set the speed back up to full while the World of Minecraft client was running, but as soon as I switched back to the World of Minecraft client window, it went back down again!

Does anyone else have this issue? Have you had it before but found a fix? Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
jessmanboo22

What mouse are you using?

You may need to download the software for it... I had the same problem and it was fixed once I downloaded the lastest software... I had to with my Logitech (home) and Razor (work).

Oh, wait a minute... It seems to happen when I adjust fog, and from that point on, it permanently goes slowly until I close the World of Minecraft client, fix the speed, and then start World of Minecraft client again.

EDIT: Gah, nope. Now I can adjust fog freely and it doens't happen.

As far as I know, I already have the lastest driver for my mouse, but I'll get the latest version as you suggest.

No, that didn't help. I have

No, that didn't help. I have Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0, and Microsoft's website gave me Intellipoint 8.1.

I'm still having the issue. It seems to happen randomly when chatting, or when entering the menu (Esc).

Aye..Do you know if there's a

Aye..
Do you know if there's a way to revert to the previous non-.exe-based version of World of Minecraft client? Even though it makes you re-get minecraft.jar daily, I'd prefer that over hardly being able to use the thing at all...

Can't do it.

No unfortunately... Strange glitch by the sounds of it.

But by the look of it, you don't have a common narrowed down cause? Would help a lot. Is it fog? Is it ESC? Is it chat?

Yeah, that's the thing. It

Yeah, that's the thing. It seems to be happening at random, but only when I do something. For example, it won't happen if I idle, but it might happen if I do something, like adjust fog, chat, or enter the menu.

Back to in-browser for me; to put the speed back up, I have to exit the client, set the mouse speed back up, and then restart World of Minecraft. Within 5 minutes, it has done it again, so it's not worth the effort.

I hate unique cases... especially when they're me.. -.-

I've discovered two things!

I've discovered two things! One, that it's caused by toggling fly mod. (Not sure if it's only from toggling it into OFF mode. Hasn't happened when I start playing and toggle it to ON mode, so I think it's because of toggling fly mod off.)

And two: It's not just me/my setup! I tried it on 3 other PCs and they all demonstrate the behaviour! It's just hardly noticeable/not noticeable at all because either the Windows mouse speed was at Default in the first place for those other computers, or it was offset only a teeny bit (like, one notch on the slider) so that it was hardly noticed when it went to default!
I tested it by sending them all the way to the extreme, then playing with fly mode on/off. Sure enough, they switched to default speed!
Now, I wonder why on earth there is code in World of Minecraft client to mess with mouse speeds. Maybe it was implemented to keep the mouse from straying outside the World of Minecraft window if you move the mouse faster than the client can capture it (like, if the computer's under heavy load)? But then why the heck does the fly toggle trigger it? Hmmmmmmm...!
Strange as it might sound at first, I just wish that someone other than myself would have this problem. I say that because this issue isn't going to receive much attention if nobody but me posts something ;P

I think i have it!

If you get better drivers it should help because I've never had that issue

*sarcasm*

Thanks for ignoring my posts. :P

I already confirmed that 1) I upgraded my drivers to the latest and the issue still happens, and 2) That it happens on multiple computers, each using different hardware and operating systems. (One of the mice is even a PS/2 mouse, which means drivers cannot possibly be involved.)

Like I said, either I really have an EXTREMELY coincidental and unique case, or it happens to others as well, except they don't notice it because they have their mouse settings either already at default (so that the change doesn't change anything), or at such a small adjustment that they don't notice the change.

Sweet! Someone else has this

Sweet! Someone else has this issue! er, uh, I mean, I only say "Sweet" 'cause then I know it's not just me, and that it most likely is an official issue!

Please, anyone reading this thread: If you have the time, experiment with this! Set your mouse speed to fastest, then play World of Minecraft for a while and see if your mouse speed slows back down! Or, if it's at the fastest setting, slow it down to slowest and see if it speeds up to normal!

Thanks!

Yes, I have this problem too.

Yes, I have this problem too. I had to restart my computer to get my mouse speed back to normal.
