Mouseclick opens the Game Menu [LOCKED]

Just yesterday, I have installed the latest Java (jre1.6.0_22), and the mouse stopped responding the way it should in the World of Minecraft client. Any input from the mouse (any button) opens the Game Menu, so I can't place or remove blocks in game. There's no similar problem in clean Minecraft Classic, or Minecraft Alpha.
OS: Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat 32-bit
Java:

Any console messages that might be worth mentioning:

Linux plugin claims to have found 1 controllers
No error logs.
I've already tried reinstalling World of Minecraft, and I tried the previous version of JRE, didn't work.
Does anyone know a solution to this problem?
