Howdy!
Been playing for only a few days and have build quite a LOT during that time and most of it on my own server.
I was tunnelling a huge underground world for hours and when the PC crashed and popped the Blue Screen (Windows Vista). I reloaded the game and connected to my server again only to find that it's completely reset! It's all gone!
What happened? IS it really all gone?
Thanks!
I had the server which I downloaded, extracted, edited and been having online for the past few days. It's still up there amongst the rest, but now obviously completely reset and boring.
And I did also discovered that it once again reset itself! How shall I ever dare to build my masterpieces if the damn server map keeps resetting itself?!
At least it's possible to save your map on singleplayer.
it aint normal that it resets itself..
are you using any custom server software?
did you deleted server_level.dat?
if you del'd that
yeah then its normal that it reseted
anyway
it could also be a virus that deletes your map always
server is meant to generate a new 1 when it doesnt has a map
thats kind of a lame virus. only targets the server_level.dat? fail.
just saying :P
mine just did the same thing and i lost a huge minecraft train station and a lot of other awesome stuff
i can help u building the houses again. i really want to help :]
oh... lol mine just moved the spawn point... nvm i still have my stuff
I had the same problem just now and almost had a heart attack because I built a lot of 8-bit characters. Anyway, I was playing just fine with my cousin on my server. I decided to go to his house to sleep over and still play Mine Craft. I get to his house, pull up the server, and everything is gone. Now, I thought it was because I was connected to his IP and not mine. So we go back to my house, log in, and everything is still gone.
What I realized is, that I took the Multiplayer Server out of its folder and put it on the desktop for quicker access. What this does is create an entirely new world when you log in. So, just for shear hope, I put the Server back into its folder where I got it from, and everything went back to normal.
What happens is, the server saves the the work you do in THAT specific folder. So, since you "moved" the server from its "home file", it had no idea what to access, so it made itself a new world. If this was what you did, fix it that way. Glad to help :)

Are you playing singleplayer or did you even set up a server yet?
