I need help. Me and my brother, Troger1, want to make a server that makes other people join. If you know how to, like, the ip is a wesite adress, we wanna know how to. My brother and me really want to know.

You need an SRV DNS record. You will need to own a website to do this. If you do own a site contact your site provider and say you need the SRV DNS thing and tell them it's for a game server and give them your IP.
If your running the server off a home computer don't waste your time.

You CAN use a home computer, it just will make your computer slow.

To use it on a home computer Port foward and use a Desktop NOT a laptop

They already have the ip, They want to change the IP to one like play.example.com
Dont listen to cartose about the portforwarding. My statement still stand. If you run it off your home computer I wouldn't bother setting up a SRV DNS record. Though you don't need an SRV to run a server. You just need people to login using your computers IP address

you can set it up without DNS Records, just use A Records.

Well, for 1 thing, I CAN only get on a Laptop. D: But, it is pretty fast, but if I CAN'T run it, then, how do I? What do you mean when you say, "Not a home computer" what is not a home computer?

You can pay a company to host your server. Just google minecraft server hosts, Or pm me if you want to know my personaly reccomendation.
A laptop isn't a great idea for a dedicated server but it will work.
