i have been trying forever to fix minecraft this is the error i recieved the FULL ERROR

The thing is it has worked before but after i have installed windows 8 and got rid of my files it doesn't work anymore i have try ed to manually fixed video card drivers it doesn't work and i have tried to go to an automatic driver detector and they cant detect it i dont know what to do anymore is there anymore hope because i have just about given up

Are you using Java 6?
It won't work with Java 7 or ha, 1. So be sure your using Java 6 and have 7 disable.

If you read his post it says he installed WIndows 8. Minecraft probably can't detect that it is running Windows 8.

OP
go to Windows Explorer (file veiwer) and right click on "Computer" - Select Properties and select Device Manager from the list on the left
In the new window click on "Display Adapters" to bring up a drop down list.
Update all of the components in this list.TO UPDATE DRIVERS
1. Right Click on the component
2. Left Click "Update Driver Software"
3. Complete the Wizard
Windows fails at Driver lookup so if this doesn't work, look up your component on Google adding Driver software to the search. If you can tell me your Graphics card I can help you more.

Try completely wiping the minecraft Directory by: Searching .minecraft and delete the folder
Run the Minecraft application (this will create a fresh install.)ALSO
Try uninstalling Java and downloading the latest software from http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp
NOTE: Ensure you know your OS type (32/64 bit) this is essential in choosing the correct downloads for any program.
Good luck. If that doesn't help then I'll get back to you, just recently installed 8 myself and I'm getting used to it.
PS: Running Minecraft as an Administrator may help. Don't know, just a shot in the dark.

Rolling back and then updating the video drivers worked for me. Give it a shot and let me know.

Basically...yea. That's the error in itself. You either need:
A). A better video card/Graphics card that is alot more powerful, or just a newer one depending on what you have,
-or-
B). Google your video card drivers and install the latest one
ei:
in google search up (I'll use my Graphics card as an example):
"nVidia GeForce GTX 560 driver" <-- My card
"(Your video/graphics card here) driver" <-- What you'll put in
Then just find a site that has a download for your video/graphics card and download the latest one for your computer (sometimes there will be a 32 or 64 bit installation depending on if your computer is 32 or 64. Not on ALL drivers, but majority of them do have an OS specific download).
If you still have issues figuring all this out, just tell us what type of video card you have. If you have no idea what type of video card you have....
(I'm sure it's still fairly the same on Windows 8, haven't tried it out yet, don't like the interface :L)
1) open start menu
2) Right click "My Computer" or "Computer"
3) Click properties
4) find "Device manager"
5) look under the "display adapters" in the Device manager menu.
That should tell you what video/graphics card you have.

We have already worked through updating the drivers, the fix has already been posted above and it is not as simple as installing a new driver, for some reason a rollback is required.
Deadly, you tried to be helpful but you are restating what has already been tried and Niels you also haven't read the thread because you missed the part where he said "i have try ed to manually fixed video card drivers it doesn't work" and where I have already suggested he update the drivers.

Well Sounds like we've tried the most obvious things but with no firm results.
oh and deadly... windows 8 doesn't have a start menu!
now:
You said that it was running on a friends computer,
What are the hardware stats for the two computers ?
(Mainly graphics cards, and what drivers are each running?)
Does windows 8 have a compatibility mode that you can run to push it back to win7. I know there's not much difference in the backend of the two OS's but hey you never know.

what you guys refuse to understand is i have tried to update it it says they cant find the graphic card ir whatever and also i worked before on windows 7 and before i dealted all the files i understand that it might be problem but im trying to figure out what i lost that is important i cant even play classic version of minecraft

I don't think I can make this clearer. From your above post it seems like you are only trying to update them and are not rolling them back. If you have done this then tell me and I'll try and find an alternative fix, we need to make sure you are trying everything before moving on.

It really is a simple fix, you guys need to learn make sure to know what you are talking about.
Windows 8 DOES have a start menu (Metro interface)
It IS a video card problem when you have recently upgraded to Windows 8
Rolling back/uninstalling and re-updating video card drivers HAS worked.
So please, for the sake of my sanity and jhk's happiness, stop clogging up the thread when you don't know exactly what you are talking about.

its all with the driver so the best thing to do if you can not find the updated driver is to contact the maker about it or downgrade to windows 7

Okay since the thread is obviously going out of control because of people not reading sh*t, I'm locking it. Yes I was restating what was said, but that was just to say a solve has been found, I had accidentally forgotten to lock the thread afterwards.
