New ore help!!

when notch adds a new ore to the game (like lapis lazuli) will it be in a preloaded area of the map (such as the spawn point) or will a new area halve to be loaded for it to be existent.

if you dont want a massive world that lags like hell you can save structures or land formations that you are still attatched to from your old world and place them in a newly generated world using mcedit. hope i helped.

Like any other type of block that notch adds, you will need to generate new land in order to find any.
