i've been playing minecraft for a while now and I've decided I wanted a new skin instead of the default one, and all the folder that you apparently need is "minecraft.jar" is not there.

and yes i've looked in appdata, minecraft bin folder and the only things there are :
Natives
jinput
lwjgl
lwjgl_util
minecraft
version
and yes I've deleted and re-installed minecraft to try and see if that would fix it but no, that just deleted my saves
someone help, i'm not that great with computers so i need step-by-step "guidance"

You need to have premium

You need to have premium account and then download Mcskinedit and make one. then upload it at minecraft.net/skin

Did you mean texture pack and

Did you mean texture pack and not skin? The file "minecraft" in /bin/ is minecraft.jar you have file extensions hidden that's why you don't see .jar on the end of it.

lightking is correct if you actually meant player skin :P

theres a "textures" folder in

theres a "textures" folder in .minecraft just place the texture in there and run minecraft.exe
when the client is booted you must click on the "Mods and texture packs" button and then select your texture pack and press "Done"
be sure the texture you put in the textures folder is in a .zip folder

good thing you don't hunt snakes

if you look at the minecraft file and scroll to the left side you should see its a .jar

since we have the texture

since we have the texture loader in the game theres no reason of editing the .jar and you could better not touch it anyway because it can break the game
