No sound, tried everything to fix

I played for a bit, then quit, got back on, and had no sound. Everything else has sound but Minecraft. I cannot fix it, here's what I've tried.
Restarted my computer twice.
Reinstalled Minecraft twice.
Removed all my mods.
Made sure the sound files were there.
Made sure the volume was up.
None of it worked, and here's what's weird. Whenever I start up minecraft or exit a world and go to options, the music and sound sliders are at 0, and I think that has something to do with it, but I've tried everything to fix it.
So I don't know what to do, if it helps the mods I have are Mo Creatures, Friend, and Nature Overhaul, all of which have been working just fine for a while now. But I've already tried reinstalling them, and tried playing without them.
So yeah, help would be nice.
