After days of trying to figure it out, i think i might actually have everything working.
first of all, i would like somone to tell me whether or not i actually set everything up right.
the first thing i did was download the server software. I made my server "Domain of Geizer" and port forwarded so my friends could come on my server. that is working fine. the server and related items are in a folder on my desktop called Geizer's Minecraft Server.
I downloaded mclawl and the mysql server. The whole mclawl thing is on my desktop in its own little mclawl folder.
I recently got my World of Minecraft client working with the package I downloaded where i had to put the .jar file in the lib folder.
please correct me if i'm doing something horribly wrong.
there are 3 folders on my desktop. 1 containing mclawl and it's related files, 1 containing my actual server i am hosting, and 1 containing the actual client with the jar in the lib folder.
I click my server to start it up,
I click the run.bat, select my server and join it,
I click mclawl and open that up...
... and I have no idea what to do with any of it.
I do not seem to have any more features or hacks to use. I had a message on mclawl saying no hacks were available until i started it properly.
what am i doing wrong?
when I join my server, my name is white when I talk. I don't think i'm my own admin yet :/
I DO however, get to create unbreakable blocks still, so i obviouslyhave SOME privelages.
I just would like to know how to do stuff like:
create lava blocks,
create water blocks,
create entire levels with ports to other levels on my server like most peoples servers have,
how to fly,
how to move faster,
how to show up as the admin,
and most importantly, be able to actually enter in my own commands like /lava or /water without it saying unrecognised command.
any help would be appreciated

if i remember correctly the server software is set up to automatically make someone connecting from the same ip as the server an admin.
create lava blocks,
---use /lava in the chat line

---using custom World of Minecraft client press z once first on connection and then q and e to go up or down
how to move faster,
--- hold ctrl for 2x speed and shift for 5x speed also using World of Minecraft client
how to show up as the admin,
--- as posted above you already are but there should be some file in the folder he server client is in a text file where you just list the names that will be admin
and most importantly, be able to actually enter in my own commands like /lava or /water without it saying unrecognised command.
no idea why it says it is unrecognized, im confused.
