notch should update free version if minecraft and get more of the new textures and things like lapis lazuli, pumpkins, new trees (birch and the really dark tree), sandstone, all the nether blocks, and cake let me know what you think.

Notch stated (a long time ago) that he wasn't going to update or work on classic anymore and besides, would beta really be owrth it then if it was just classic with mobs and a health meter?

It won't happen. Simple as that really. It states clearly on the site, I think your only hope of that is more features being made over time in server mods, but then if you really want updates that much, why don't you just buy the new version while it is cheaper.

i have bought the full version but i still like the classic multiplayer and i would really like it if there was newer stuff in it

It doesn't make sense for him to work on the classic version when beta still has so much work to be done on it. He doesn't get paid for his work on classic.

You got to put yourself in Markus's shoes. As stated by Great One, he doesn't get paid for classic and Minecraft is what gives him his income. So working on classic is like doing lots of extra schoolwork and not getting credit for it.
