its like the client files outta nowhere, dont work, earlier it was the online servers, so i played singleplayer, not too big of a matter, now its the whole file.. that makes no sense! :O
From what I heard, the Minecraft Website is down because Notch is moving to another framework or something for his website.
As for the error, just redownload the client and Minecraft.jar.
It worked for me. Sorta.
actually, i JUST re-downloaded everything and it seems to work fine now
nice! sorta?
Yeah I have to re-download everything AGAIN after the client decided "Hey I'm gonna act like an a****** and act like I just updated after I just updated like a few hours ago." Then BOOM! Error comes back and I can't get the stupid error to stop, so I'm gonna have to delete everything and re-download. Again.
i forgot where to get the jar
never mind , was the link XD
i forgot how to do it without failing with the ` https://s3.amazonaws.com/MinecraftDownload/classic/minecraft.jar
Somebody PLEASE fix this sh*t. Its ridiculous. who broke the latest update? c'mon, just DO something about it. or simply pull the latest update so that it doesnt keep doing it.
Notch is updating server to suport more traffic wait until it is all transferred then try again
encrypt the lib folder with yo-safe and then decrypt the World of Minecraft.jar and minecraft.jar. it keeps a encrypted copy when you decrypt it, so if you ever have the same problem again, just decrypt the minecraft.jar file again!
I have done this and it works wonders.
happy building!

I am having the same issue. The World of Minecraft client attempts to download an update (to the minecraft.jar file for some reason...) and replaces the minecraft.jar file with a zero byte file of the same name. I've tried locking the correct minecraft file as read only, so the client cannot gain permission to replace it, but this still doesn't work. As far as www.minecraft.net being down, Notch has said that the website has become too popular for the servers to handle (a.k.a. 4chan DDoS attacks).
