Often my animals and chickens will be there making there little noises and then all of a sudden gone! All disappeared or despawn, as if their never where. This phenomenon will happen to another player at the same time and it not a one off event. This has happen three times with no explanation. It seem that all the animals ended up all over the place as there seem to be far more animals about the land then there where before the disappearance. It not a Herobrine and Minecraft Wiki said "No passive mob, except for squid and ocelots, will despawn if you move too far away from them. This also applies to wolves." http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Mobs so maybe it a bug.
its food that's not yet edible!
And it a food bank for later. Maybe a starving new player turns up and eat your house out. Well that okay, I just cook up a pig, a cow and a fowl or two....
Haha "Often my animals and chickens". Because chickens aren't animals anymore? And yes it matters, when you need a lot of wool for a build, a large sheep farm can come in handy. But not if the sheep disappear.
Not just wool but also leather for an armor that just as good. Then there all those eggs, if you ended up somewhere and you need some food supply because your lost and you used the "/set home" to see what happens. Always save some eggs, you may never know.
has far as I know eggs are good for cake but not much else oh and baby chickens but they don't drop meat!
That right, you pop an egg on to the ground and you may get a baby chicken. Hopefully at lest two of them after going through about sixteen eggs. Then you hope you won't stave too much as you wait for them to grow big enoght to drop some meat. Having wheat seeds on you a good idea too. Then you can feed them and have more. Another idea is to have enough food on you for when you go walk about to see you through till you set up a food bank er farm.
You spelled "please" in the title wrong. :3
Thank you for pointing that out to me. I will go and fix it right away. It good that somebody on there toes. Gone are the days of proofreading in many a forums. Lets keep this one right and help make it one of the best.
As for the animals, I think it may have something to do with having too many. Wonder if there still any proofreading happening with programming lines?

Does it really matter? It's not like passive mobs are of much use. If it was a tamed wolf or ocelot, THEN there would be a serious problem.
