I set it up correctly, placing the jar file where it belongs. the client loads correctly, but every time I go to join a server it says "java.lang.illegalargumentexception: input == null!" I run windows vista 32bit, and I have tried running it in compatibility mode, editing the run.bat to the proper vista32 location, redownloading, rebooting and I still get the error. any info would help.

Same problem, Vista 64 bit here
Says WARNING: Found unknown windows version: Windows Vista in dos prompt, Personally, i just say screw it for now, I am fine without cheats.

i have the same problem, im running my pc on Windows 7 not Vista tho.
and i can play on the webclient but not on World of Minecraft's custom client.

I use vista and I was constantly getting errors with the client until i decided to make a folder on my desktop and put all the World of Minecraft client files in it (including minecraft.jar in the lib folder) and it ran with no errors. Hopefully it works for you too.
