Hey Peeps. I've been having trouble with my video card. When I run minecraft on my good video card, it just freezes. I get to click things a couple of times, but very slow. So now, I'm forced to play Minecraft on my intergrated graphics, which are good the lowest settings, which I don't have a problem running on. But sometimes, I get these epic lagg spikes if there are too many trees, or rocks near. Is there any way to get my Minecraft to work on my Nvidia GeForce 325m? I have already posted this on the official Minecraft forums, but no response :c I googled a bit about this problem, and it seems alot of people with this video card has this problem, but non of them have anything close to a fix. Anyone on here maybe have a solution? I'm dying to play Minecraft properly on good settings.

Are you playing on an ASUS

Are you playing on an ASUS laptop (can't remember the serie) equiped with this graphic card?

If so, the problem might be the following : the computer comes equiped with both a basic graphic system and the GeForce 325m.

It uses the basic system by default, and is supposed to switch to the graphic card when needed (for instance when you launch a game). Problem is : it doesn't always do so, and you end up trying to play the game without your main graphic card.

I'm myself trying to find a solution to this issue, that's why I found your post despite not even knowing this game. The basic solution seems to be to change some parameters so that a given program (the .exe file of your game) is always launched with the GeForce card. Google around to find out how, because I don't remember exactly. Finally, even that doesn't always work, in which case you might be out of luck.

OPTIMUS technology

After some more searching, it's not a problem related to the computer, so it can happen on any laptop (Dell, for instance).

It's an Nvidia problem, and is related to the technology OPTIMUS (that able the switch between the two cards) used for a number of recent graphic cards, including the GeForce 325m. And searching on the internet, it has been known for months and Nvidia didn't do anything about it yet.

It's not a consistent problem. Some people manage to solve it by using *older* pilots or in other ways. Many games are not affected at all. Others are. Unfortunately for you, I've seen Minecraft mentioned amongst them.

You can visit the Nvidia forum, and make a search for "325m" or for "optimus" and see by yourself the threads about this issue and the lack of response by Nvidia.

Fix

Hi guys, i have exactly the same issue with Minecraft on my Nvidia Optimus laptop too. However, I managed to solve my problem by rightclicking on Desktop, click Nvidia Control Panel, select the javaw.exe and scroll down the settings list till you see: Vertical Sync. Force enable that, and your problem should be solved.

Gd luck! :)
