One quick question:
Would you like to make your WHOLE Minecraft WORLD in real with no color and size limitation?
My name is Yao, and I am a undergraduate student in Northeastern University. My three teammates and I are really interesting in designing Minecraft world, and three of us have the same expectation to make our designed 3D model in real. Most service companies are providing 3D printing service to satisfy the need; however, we still believe that the price is too high with color, size, printing speed limitation. We are designing the machine, and we try to mainly focus the following factors:
Low Price--1/3 cost as current 3D printing service
High operating speed--1-2 hours to make size:30cm*30cm*30cm
Various color--the first generation provide 6-10 different colors
Low size limitation: max 80cm*80cm*80cm
If we can achieve the four factors above, would you like to have a try to make your Minecraft WORLD in real? Moreover, what other factors do you want to have?
Please let me know anything you want to speak out.
Thank you very much. ^_^
I'd imagine something on that scale wouldn't be very cost efficient for a 3D printer. There are other mediums you could use to rebuild a Minecraft world in real life.
Microsoft new VR glasses HoloLens
HoloLens isn't VR, it is AR and the Building game they showed off is using Minecraft assets but it isn't Mincraft, it's called holobuilder
Yeah, I'm betting that first run of hololenses will be crazy expensive. Also, not exactly a good medium since he appears to be doing market research to sell prints.
still, the concept is going to be cool when they
FINALLY realize that :)
Can you imagine the potential?
Buying a program for a transformer, and your freind by a program for a decepticon then.. you both battle it out right in your lviing room with xbox controllers. :)
dang, thats gonna be sweet. If and when minecraft comes to this..(which.. microsfot owns mc. So, not surprised if they DO push to bring it to it)
fighting the enderdgragon in your own living room is going to be sweet ;)

Depends on the cost and quality mate,
Can you provide example photos? We've done 3d printing as the prize for a comp including a test print, Detail has always been the sticking point for me, Where minecraft doesn't correctly export certain blocks or things for the printer.
