Ok, first off, i did read the other posts..... nothing worked. When i first set up 1.8 it was working and everything was fine, port forwarded first time no issues. Couple days later.... nothing worked. I checked the new ip address, put that in the server properties gave my friend the new ip.. still didnt work, AND the port is no longer forwarded. iv tried turning off my firewall using all sorts of ip's ( from whatsmyip and the first ip from running cmd and ipconfig ) still doesnt work.... anyone able to shine some light on this and not post " you have to forward the port" <-- cause that sh*ts not working ! ) i still have no idea why it worked first time and then never again after that.

To run a server on YOUR own personal computer... DON'T PUT ANYTHING in the Server_IP. The port is still necessary though.
You do have your ip written down somewhere right? If so, send that to your friend. Everything should work when your computer is rebooted.
At least that is how I run a server with my friends.
Check if whitelist is enabled, if so, that could be your problem.
Also check if online_mode is enabled or disabled. if nothing else works anyway. My server is working just fine so I know what I'm doing.
