So I heard the SMP part of the server is now on peaceful mode, I don't know how you think it could work but I'm going to tell you now, it can't. By changing the server mode to peaceful you are blocking all hostile mobs on SMP which sounds okay for SMP, right? Well, it's not.
By blocking all hostile mobs on SMP you are blocking some essential features Minecraft offers indirectly as well, like brewing, enchantments, repairing and I'm sure that if I'll think about it a bit more I'll find more essential featuers.
How, you ask? To brew you need a brewing stand, to make a brewing stand you need blaze rods, to get blaze rods you need to kill blazes which can not be done on peaceful mode. To enchant or repair something you need XP, to get XP you need to kill mobs although you get some by mining but it really is not as good and can barely get you to level 20 after a few hours.
So you also blocked all XP farms which some of the players worked a lot on. So I please you to re-think that and realise that the server can not work on peaceful mode, it just removes a lot of essential features and pretty much place us back in beta 1.8.

By making counter productive pointless posts like this, I know you think it's going to work but it's not. I can tell you it's not. I don't get why none of you can take a few minutes to read up and try to understand that the server STILL isn't up to full running standards. Updates are still being worked out and changes are still being made. So, personal recommendation is stop whining about every single thing you find on the server that you don't like, or that isn't working and either go ride a bike, or eat some food, and try to exercise some patience while everything gets sorted out.
You made a TEXT WALL over something pointless. Rather than simply asking about why it was set to peaceful. Next time stop, take a deep breath, read a little bit, then ask a simple question...

Well, yes you have said that the server updates are not fully done but I don't think you would set the server mode to peaceful if you don't plan to keep it that way, it only takes a second or two to change.

right now its set that way so snow, the staff and myself can see the bugs and problems with upgrades if any so for now its going to remain at peaceful untill upgrades are dones and then it will return to normal mode

I think you may have missed the memo but here it is again:
THE SERVER IS STILL BEING WORKED ON
The server is on Peaceful to ensire that people to do die from stupid reasons such as:
- Dying from having no items (because of missing data)
- Dying from falling into corrupted chunks
- Dying for being a noob
I do hope that answers your question and the server will return to 'Normal' when everything is fine by our standards.

I agree, They need to set smp back on easy+ mode. Xp griders are extremely useful.
