Permanent activation from a pressure plate?

I was wondering how I can set up a redstone circuit hooked up to a pressure plate. Basically the pressure plate would lead into the circuit. When it has been pressed, a redstone torch (or other thing) would turn on, and stay on until a button is pressed to reset it. How can I do this easily?

to do this all you need to do is ,
It Pretty much has to be in the shape of an 8 so that the power will keep going around
Step 1 : Apply redstone in the shape of an 8
Step 2 : Activate it once and you should see it make its way around , and right when you see it go through the middle step on the plate again ,
now that should keep it going :D
