Problems with Alpha

I know Creative and such things are down, but is alpha down aswell, if it is, i'm probably the only one that can't connect, i keep on getting an error, it says:
Failure to launch
Fetal error occurred (5): null
Extracting: lwjgl.jar.lmza to lwjgl.jar
Any suggestions? or is this something that will fix its self?

I have the same as well. I think it's cause the servers are down. No minecraft for me today :(.

Download the new client on the site, that will fix the problem.

I'm new so idk if I can post or not but what I did after I got that error was go to [ minecraft.net ] and then downloaded the new .exe from there as Notch said (?) Then I simply ran it and it downloaded the game successfully and then I use the Minecraft,jar file and it seemed to work fine.
Worth a try.
