Hi, I'm James. I am in main and I was crushed to hear when Jake333 told me the age requirement to get moderator is sixteen. I am not afraid to admit it tears started to drip after I found out I wasted my time on the server to help out, but can't fully help just cause I'm twelve years old. I hate how people are judging everyone about my age are immature. Yes, I don't act like a responsible adult, but I try to help out as much as I can and keep my cool. Anywhere on the internet I am denied into getting something or becoming someone cause of my age. For example, on this one game called Combat Arms, I wanted to get into this really nice clan, but couldn't just because I am twelve. Some people are mature and some aren't. I would consider myself as mature. I follow rules, I also enforce them. The reason of writing all this is so everyone can say the agree that people my age should be trusted or not. Another thing that amazed me the most, is when I hosted a server on survival and whenever someone asked how old I am, I said twelve. Then they said, "Wow, a 12 year old hosts a server?". I felt depressed how the economy had a big downfall. In real life people swear a lot, call others names a lot, hit each other a lot. Would you believe me when I say, I don't swear everyday, although everyone around me does. I am sort of the weak, kind gentlemen. I don't start fights, I try to end them, which sometimes causes me to get beat up. I respect teachers, parents, and friends. If I have a friend being a jerk to other people, I'll talk to him or her and say our friend ship is over if they can't grow up a little. Please reply to this saying if this rule should be over turned. I find this sort of as a petition.

What if I can handle griefers? What if I use to all the time on my own server? What if I can keep in control? I think I'd make a good moderator honestly, but no one can give me the chance.

I like the rule for several reasons.
We are not saying that all under 16 year olds are immature. I think it may be tough for 12-16 year olds because they are working hard at school.
We have older staff who can spread their wisdom to younger members.
Personally I think you should try and become a great builder and rank up that way. And we have members who help staff aswell. But we are not going to make an exception for a single person. The rule still stands

I for one know the stress of school and that rules are there 4 a reason. To protect from more stress... Too much stress make u look like this!!! O_O

Where I do agree with you to not judge a book by it's cover and I do understand that you may feel that you're ready to take on a position on our staff team, you need to understand that we have rules in place for a reason.
Being denied things is part of growing up, no matter what way you look at it. In a sense, it's demonstrating immaturity to think that you can just try and get what you want without even questioning why our rules are in place.
As I said, I do agree with you in the sense that immaturity applies to all age ranges, not just the youth, but rules are rules. It was set in the first place not because we thought younger people couldn't handle typing out a few more commands to keep the servers safe, but you need to understand that being on staff is more than that. Being on staff means you need to have skills you only learn through personal development - things you can't be taught. Stuff like taking abuse properly, handling criticism and working in a coordinated team are all things that are required for the role. For people under the age limit, we feel that they are simply too inexperienced to handle the role.
Furthermore, you mentioned that you think you wasted your time helping out others on our servers. This is exactly the kind of attitude we don't look for. Staff have to spend their own free time to help others and the moderate the servers. We don't get paid, we don't get free perks or benefits and we certainly don't get appreciated for doing behind the scenes work. We do it because we're passionate about what we do, for Minecraft and for World of Minecraft.

The fact of the matter is there are too many people we entrust with the rank of moderator who end up betraying this trust and/ or making mistakes. We aren't saying that anybody under the age of 16 is too immature to be able to moderate, hell a lot of people over that age are too immature to be able to moderate. One of the primary reasons that younger mods mess up is because they're incapable of handling the stress of 40 guests running rampant and griefing. The age limit says nothing for your maturity, It's an insurance policy against young moderators getting overwhelmed and abusing their power without realising. Having been 12 myself I understand the frustration you feel with age limits and people not respecting who you are. We are sorry but the rules are there for a reason, it's nothing personal.
