browse to "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc" on your computer.
right-click on the file "hosts" then select "properties" then untick "Read-only" then press "OK"
next, open the file "hosts" with notepad.
at the end of the file add the line:
"69.175.14.242 www.minecraft.net"
Without quotes.
save the file then your World of Minecraft Client should work.
your the idiot.
do you even know what "fix" means?
this will allow you to use the World of Minecraft client until the minecraft site is fixed.
I take that back, what you say could be true. I've been out of the loop for a little bit.
Seems that copying/pasting the url into the bar works too though (and its easier).
I did this and worked for my 32 bit computer, but won't allow me to save on my 64 bit computer. Any suggestions?
Make sure you are using admin permissions.
I right-clicked and ran as admin, still not working. And I am the only account on the computer, full admin. I have vista, and my friend who has windows 7 64 has the same issue. It seems to be only 64 bit that has this issue.

worked like a charm! thank you!
I've been having problems with this client aswell. I am currently on a Windows 7 64-bit operating system and this "fix" did not work for me at first but I was fiddling around and found that if you try his fix but instead of typing the ip and than www.minecraft.net, try just typing the ip and delete the "www." I hope this helps because I tried everything else and finally found this so gl ^^.
