I can only play Minecraft for a few seconds and then I get a message "saving chunks" and after it saves it goes to a black screen and I have to quit the game.

Please help I have a crashed airship to find :)

odd

first of all, back up your save files

try playing it through minecraft.net

then, if that does work, you know that there is something wrong on your side, so try redownloading minecraft

it could possibly be a java issue, so update/redownload that

if none of that works, come back and i will think of something else

but definitely make sure that you back up your saves!

ok when I start it in a

ok when I start it in a window I can only get a screen saying "Updating Minecraft" and "Done loading". I was thinking it could've been a Java problem but now I'm thinking it's a port forwarding problem. Bit daft really as it has been working fine for a month or two and now has just started all this rubbish. I've updated everything and I'm fairly good at sorting stuff like this out but this is driving me nut's.

one thing i have to point out is I've never been able to play it while logged in so i've always played it in offline mode.

hmmm

i dont think it could be a portforwarding error if you are only playing in offline mode

i cant think of a way to fix that
you could try running through some of the unnecessary processes on your computer 1 by 1 turning them off and checking if it works, but i dont think that will help at all, and it would take ages, i'll do a bit of researching
