Alright, so I've got 1.4 on my Windows XP computer, and it's not working. I can log in just fine, the game runs, but after I log in, it says: Could not retrieve server list. Going single player.
What do I do to make that error go away?

So, I start it up, this comes up
Autodetecting java
Testing default folder
Checking C:\Program Files\Java\jre6 folder
Fond java in C:\Program Files\Java\jre6 folder
Starting java from "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe"
I log in, then it goes right to the error message and goes into single player.

If you swap back to the command prompt is their anymore in the log?
Do you have a firewall which might be blocking it?

maybe you're puting in the wrong username and password (it's your minecraft user and pass). Try to go to minecraft.net and see if you can log-in

Nothing new comes up unless I say switch, in which case it says:
Failed to poll device: Device is released
any number of times
Not sure if I have a firewall up...
Tried your advice BLACKxBIRD, but I have the right account.

When I log into World of Minecraft, I see the server list then I type a name of the server name it freezes is it only me or just the whole World of Minecraft?(this also happpens to me on minecraft.net)
