Server Setup Troubles

I am attempting to start up a private server for me and a few friends using Omen. A few questions. First of all, when I load up the server start up, and then visit the link, it wont load. It says 'The server is probably down!". Also, how do I use my Omen generated level in my server? I guess I'm just asking for some step-by-step here, because I must be missing something...

The link that you have will only work for pc's outside your home network.
If you want to play minecraft on the same machine thats hosting it, the link is http://minecraft.net/play.jsp?ip=127.0.0.1&port=25565
If your friends cant connect, make sure you have port forwarding enabled on your router, this site will help, http://portforward.com/
To use your Omen level on your server, save it as server_level.dat place it in your minecraft server folder.
There will already be a server_level.dat in that folder so you will need to either delete or move the original one, then fire up the server.
