Boo, so I decided to do some research into why Classic Minecraft was not having any sound.
1. From the website, Classic no longer downloads the /resources folder.
2. A faulty c.class file which is not playing back music if places in a newly made /resources folder.
So from this I present to you how to fix this!
Tutorial Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqUmQWfmlV8
Download https://github.com/downloads/zhuowei/zhuowei.github.com/mcsndfix.zip and extract. You will find the fixed c.class file inside. Open up your Minecraft.jar in the /lib directory and navigate com/mojang/minecraft and put the c.class file there, overriding the old file. Zip the entine Minecraft folder back up and rename to minecraft.jar and override the old .jar. We now have a fixed minecraft.jar ready to play music!
Question is, where do we find this music?
If you already own Minecraft then you can create a new folder in /lib called "resources". Then put the following tracks from the resources folder in .minecraft into the new resources folder:
stone3.ogg
stone1.ogg
grass4.ogg
wood3.ogg
wood1.ogg
wood4.ogg
grass1.ogg
stone4.ogg
stone2.ogg
grass3.ogg
gravel1.ogg
gravel2.ogg
gravel3.ogg
gravel4.ogg
grass2.ogg
wood2.ogg
calm3.ogg
calm1.ogg
calm2.ogg
If you do not have premium Minecraft then you can download the sound files from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?6ziwnqjipl0981b then extract the files into the resources folder that you created in the /lib directory.
If there is a /minecraft directory in your client then delete it so the new minecraft.jar can take effect.
Then simply play on your favourite server (World of Minecraft:Realms) and hear that lovely sound (make sure it's turned on). I have seen that it may take a little longer to connect but it's woth it!
If you have any troubles then write in the comments below and I will assist you as this can be quite confusing :)

So far, I think this only works on Windows as I dont know where the .jar file is located on other OS's
The jars are in the lib folder, everything is located in the same place. The only difference is the way the game is launched, for example, to start the World of Minecraft client on linux, you have to start the .sh file (executable text file).
i got lost on where to place the resources folder.
It goes in the same folder where World of Minecraft.exe is. Do not place it in the /lib folder.
im new to World of Minecraft some help plese
Ok awkward, the /resources folder actually does go in the /lib directory. I didnt notice I had it in both :|
I can still hear the sounds when I play classic without doing this O_O
its not working for me, i put c class in minecraft folder after mojang folder, and resources in lib, please help
Click the link to the tutorial. It replaces the new c.class replaces the old c.class.
it still wont work, do i need to zip the lib folder or something?
Have you followed the video tutorial? If you do that then you can't really go wrong.
Also made sure to download the audio files?
i followed the video tutorial step by step.
Do i need to put the resources in lib, cuz that is what i did.
Also does the repaired c.class folder just go in the minecraft folder or the minecraft.jar as well.
last of all what do you mean by delete the old /minecraft folder?
You do put the resources folder in lib.
The video and the text here are kind of two different things. Of you choose to put the c class in the minecraft.jar, you need to delete the minecraft folder in lib so the new file takes place.
its still not working, do u know why?
I have even deleted all my World of Minecraft stuff on my desktop, re downloaded it and then followed every click in your video and also re organized my World of Minecraft files so they are organized like yours, and it still doesn't work! :'(
Click the link after tutorial. Then right click on the c.class folder that you've just downloaded. then click "copy". Then navigate to the World of Minecraft client. then press lib, then click the minecraft folder, then click com, then click mojang, then click another minecraft folder, then right click adn click paste. Click copy and replace. MAKE SURE TO USE THE World of Minecraft CLIENT THAT YOU HAVE REPLACED THE C.CLASS WITH, OR IT WILL NOT WORK.
is it possible for someone to send me a copy of the client with the working sound mod?
because i cannot for the life of me get this mod working :'(
The hell? Whenever it's playing a music, it has static in the background and random breaks. It kinda sounds like those flicks you hear when you're watching an old movie
I have no problem with sound! :D Although boy_soldier, it could be your speakers.
It work the first time I tried it then I had to re-install the whole client.I did delete my first client. When I did the whole sound thing all over again it didn't work. I couldn't hear anything even though my speakers were on full volume. I followed the video step by step again after I re-installed the client. It still didn't work.
Please Help!
Right, so I did all you said, but I didn't get it to work, but I tried deleting META-INF, since it's there and all, and it works. I realized you didn't tell anything about deleting META-INF for it to work.
Well, it might only happen to me, but you might add that crucial part.
It seems to work now that i have full minecraft, i now have sound on World of Minecraft and the full game! :)
