Trying to figure out how to play single player, but not classic mode. Went through the tutorial and have been browsing the forums for information and all I've found to be able to do is connect to other servers and use classic. Tried to setup a server on my system to play directly off, but am not sure how to connect to it. Tried my system's IP as well as localhost and have been unable to connect.
Any suggestions on either how to connect to my own server on my system or anything alone these lines?

Tried using that address in World of Minecraft and it crashes every time I try to connect. Direct link brings me to minecraft's homepage and has me play classic that I can't even save on. No go unless I'm missing something.

Did you port forward and tell your firewall to ignore that port? (it doesn't have to be 25565, that's just the one I used)

To connect to a server running on the same computer, try using this address:
http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?ip=127.0.0.1&port=25565
Also you may have to add "&override=true" (without the "") to the end of the address to get a connection.
Unless you mean SSP/SMP, in which case I can't help you.
