As some of you may be aware, Mellcor, a long time member of a World of Minecraft and SMP staff member got demoted today which is why he chose to leave.
He got demoted for disregarding our rules about using creative mode in the PvP. He built a player trap then left a chest full of high value items in the centre of it for anyone to take. This did not fly with other staff!
Yes. I did make the call to demote him but to just clear this up: We did not tell him to leave World of Minecraft nor did we ban him from the server. We took away his staff powers because he abused them and that's it. He chose to leave on his own terms.
Its quite sad to see a veteran member of the World of Minecraft Community walk away because of his opinion on the state of the server. I openly welcome any form of feedback, good or bad, about the SMP Server but we can't tolerate a staff member abusing his power in the PvP Map.
Anyway, I felt the need to clear up the situation.
In other news: Some fun changes are in the works for the Arenas of the SMP and some creative things are to come (:

But Mellcor was a great staff, and a great friend like ranger said, he inspired me, I would like to say the same thing, In realms when I first went to his realm, Thats when it looked me in the eye, I could do better then what I did before and I did. And everytime I will see his realm on YouTube I'll remeber that he inspired me.

The reason why I said he inspired me to be more is because before I saw his builds in classic, I was building stone castles using nothing but cobblestone and square shapes. Sure, I was getting better at that, but I was stuck. I stalked mellcor for 3 months before he finally agreed to teaach me a bit. Now look, at one point I had the most popular realm and am considered one of the greats of World of Minecraft by some.
I don't get around to coming on World of Minecraft very often anymore because I'm busy with real life and creating my adventure map, however there will always be a place in my heart for World of Minecraft and even though I don't like alot of the things happening to it lately, I still respect it for running for this long.

the reason i beleive i was so popular is because i did brreak rules, i did push the line, but i never did anything that was beond 5 min worth of repair, the demotions wasnt so much the final straw so mich as loosing creative, because without it there was no way for me to continue my builds and without any $ to buy items i wasnt gona start from scratch when i can go find a diffrent server that can appreciate how i keep the community "tuned in"
also, i was on main page........ sweet :D

Ok I am not trying to mess anything up. And stuff but can't we give mell a warning and rank him back and if he does it again then demote him for good.
he learned his lesson now can we give him a warn and let it be, mell is our friend he didn't mean no harm now, I am not trying to get this post deleted I just want to stand up.

I dont think an admin or staff is there to be a "Bad ass" or be a leather jacket biker driving a harley.. if you get what im saying. I think your a cool person mellcore and you built some pretty nice things but theres a fine line and you crossed it. Maybe thats a bit much but then again, im pretty sure Snowglobe told all the admins that they are strictly not allowed to give out items with creative, especially in PVP.
I respect SnowGlobe for doing this. If my wife was an admin (If i had a wife.) , and she did the same thing and snowglobe demoted her, id still respect Snowglobe for doing it

yea but then u would be sleeping on the couch, also i didnt directly give out any items in pvp, i set up a course in with people had to complete and only 1 person ever completed it out of 10-15 people and he didnt even need what he got as he was already quite well off

okay before this topic gets to out of hand, we all know mell feels bad for what he did, yes he may have not followed the rules and such, but he's still our friend, to me World of Minecraft Changed now, I'm not trying to be rude or anything but when I firsted joined World of Minecraft there where a lot of people helping me out.
But then after the summer it started to slowly change, I didn't notice it till later now all of you know I was a bad person at grammer and I have anger isues, but that doesn't mean I still have feelings, and that goes for the same of mell he feels just like us, and Mell just wanted to be friends find a awesome community,
well he did, World of Minecraft but once World of Minecraft changed a bit, (Like I said a few people got a bit mean, And also me :P)
Once that happened Mell disobeyed the rules, he lost his powers, all he wanted was to play yes, we do need to show pinushment but also friendship and tell him we still care for him as a friend.

My point being, You portray the situation as if World of Minecraft staff has been unusually cruel to Mellcor. This is not the case, Snow did not have to give him Trusted rank or even let him on the server for that matter. The issue is not a big deal, Mellcor made it into a big deal by storming off in a dramatic rage. Snow and other Staff have done everything necessary to keep the server a better place to play.

I want to note on this and only do it once. Everyone seems to think that mellcor is the first and only person demoted. No one is a victime here. 2 others were demoted before him, and 1 of them for similar reasons. It's very well known and even recently confirmed that staff do NOT give out items to users via creative. There are very few case where it's allowed and this wasn't one of them. I don't really have an opinion on this issue other than it seems a few especially one *cough cartose cough* is making mellcor out to be a victim here. Rules were broken and punishment was handed out simple as that.
Personally I say let a sleeping dog lie. Snow made his decision, and mellcor made his. Best of luck to both...that is all...

Realms will most likely never come back
Also the Trusted rank is basically inbetween Mod and regular. They can kick, mute, jail and fly but can't get Creative nor they can ban people. I believe I am currently the only one with that rank. Unless you've got it too

according to the butter pickaxes niels, you and mellcor are trusted. I hope Mell will come back, never had the honor of playing by his side on the server, but it's always a sad day when you lose someone.

Just like to clarify that Mellcor is not trusted rank. There is a glitch that users cannot be demoted from the 'Trusted' rank on the forums.
If you don't believe me, look up lolipopx's forum account and he also has the golden pickaxe.

Even though Mellcor probably won't see this, I just want to say goodbye man. You inspired me to go beyond building the crappy things I used to build and brought me to a whole other level of building I never dreamed I could get to.
I believe most of the veterans of World of Minecraft have left by now. I can't even think of any of the other ones but me... Probably just bad memory haha.
