some sounds not working

when i play minecraft, the zombies and animals dont make any sound. there's also no sound when i walk on snow and a bunch of other stuff.
but there's sound when i walk on grass, break things down...anyone know a solution for this? i dont like it when i turn around and theres a spider in my face

I'm having the same problem,
I'm having the same problem, and idk how to fix it, I tried reinstalling all of the sounds and even the game itself. I cannot hear sounds for the following:
Mobs
Walking on sand
Walking on snow
No *hurt* sounds when receiving damage
There are a few more but I just want to know how to fix it, because I'm forced to play on peaceful because I can't hear any zombies or anything.
