This is just a thread to tell tips and tricks in the Nether. When in the Nether DO NOT hurt any of the man-bear-pigs. ( pigmen ). You cant get them to leave you alone unless your a wimp and go to peaceful. ( no offense ) Second, Ghasts shoot fire balls at you well I was messing around and found out you can deflect them back into them doing some damage. So far it is 3 hits on normal they're gone. So hope that helps anyone that dies every time you enter. Every time.... I've died 10 and counting!

By hitting the fire balls. You dont need a weapon or anything just hit them.

Yep, absolutely right. I'm quite convinced that deflecting the fireballs with a weapon or tool actually lowers it's durability too, so be careful with that.
It's advisable to block off or hide your portals from the caverns, this means you're not instantly exposing yourself (and your portal) to any danger when you first warp in. It also allows you to set up a base if you want.
Mushrooms are everywhere. Mushroom stew is awsome. put 1 and 1 together.
As a general tip, you need to "hit" fires to put them out. Since the nether features blocks which, when set alight, stay permanently on fire, it's a bit easier to just put the fires out rather than trying to jump or walk around them.
Also, fire itself is a bit merciful, instead of setting you alight instantly, you are able to run through fire with only taking minor damage. If you stay in fire long enough however, you will catch on fire. This is bad, as no water can be used in hell (unmodded).
Fishing is fun in hell. try rod pulling a Ghast into a lava fall. Great fun.
Afaik and have tested, zombie pigmen do not turn hostile if they walk into a fire you have made. Don't completely trust me on this however.
Ghasts tend to shoot slightly above where you are, this makes running away from a ghast who is directly behind you a very bad thing.
Rock/stone from the normal realm does not break from ghast explosions. Since by the time you reach the Nether you should have a plentiful supply of stone, use it to build bridges and protect your portal. Remember that Ghasts can turn the portal off if their fireballs hit the portal or the frame (sometimes).
Finally, be aware of the surrounding landscape constantly. I almost died once because I didn't realise ghasts had chipped away at the floor near where I was and lava began to flood in. Luckily, I had spotted the lava before it started melting my face.

wtf i never heard of the slip. how do you make a portal or whatever?

You have to get at least 10 obsidean and make a 3 by 2 frame. The corners dont need blocks. Then you get flint and steel and set fire to it then stand in it and welcome to the Slip or the nether or hell.

when you make your portal it seems like you go to a same area(or close to that area)in nether. make a portal at botom of map,u should end up in a cave. keep that in mind when you make a portal so you dont end up teleporting into a ghasts fireball.
