Hey everyone!

It’s February already, and I’m sure you’re all anxious for an update on things. It’s been great seeing more activity this past month and we welcome all the newcomers who have joined too. Many thanks for the feedback on the last newsletter.

Also, you may have noticed the last post didn’t have a lot of color formatting or pictures included...unfortunately the editor is pretty much broken… please blame Jupiter. :D

Announcements:

1.7 Network features have been disabled - SMP 1.7 will remain on until a 1.8 SMP option is ready
The Lobby has temporarily been disabled (see below), but SMP will stay online until we can get it updated to 1.8
We’re still working really, really hard on bringing NEXUS up to a level that we can say is appropriate for public use (and it’s starting to look good)!

*BREAKING NEWS REGARDING SMP*

MrSnowGlobe has decided to to start on SMP 1.8 - this means Spigot. Yes, that’s right. We’ve waited patiently for months checking the progress of Sponge, and now the 1.7.10 SMP is having fatal errors and is not expected to last more than another week. We’ve no choice but to move ahead fast. Work is expected to start on the 6th of Feb and finish within the following few days.

Player vaults are still intact, and have not been affected by the SMP errors. Your transfer chests will be available to you on the 1.8 SMP.

As we update SMP, vaults and build transfers will follow. Please bear with us as things are bound to get crazy quickly. Also please take special notice of the following info on name changes and some of the expected problems, as that is hitting the fan as well. Thanks to all fellow World of Minecraft members, you have been awesome during all this!

Network

Our 1.7 Proxy has been disabled along with CMP. SMP will now be the one and only server you reach when connecting to our IP.

Due to recent issues (Remember that downtime earlier? Yeah.) we have disabled the Proxy system that was keeping the servers connected with each other. Because of this, we’ve also temporarily disabled the Lobby (we don’t really need that thing right now anyway). We’ll turn it back on as soon as we can, though!

SMP

So, you may be wondering, “How close is sponge now?” and “Is the map resetting soon?” If you are, you’re probably just skipping through this post. Shame on you!

CMP

As mentioned in the last newsletter. CMP has now been taken offline. Its old server portal has been replaced with Nexus’ portal, and CMP will always be remembered in our hearts.

As for the build moves from CMP: they will happen within the next two weeks. Anyone who contacted MrSnowGlobe about their buildings should watch their inboxes, as he’ll contact you soon!

NEXUS

NEXUS has since gone through some exhaustive testing and updating. Now you may be wondering, “So is public testing open?” Some unforeseen issues revealed themselves which have slowed down our current plans.

Ever since we started working on it, Nexus has gone through a lot of testing and updating. Sadly we came across some of those nasty bugs earlier and someone seems to be stealing MrSnowGlobe’s milk, causing progress to slow down a bit. We’ll get everything working again as soon as we can, though.

It’ll be worth the wait, though. It’ll be good. You won’t be disappointed.

Minecraft Username Changes

As some of you have most likely noticed by now, Mojang has recently enabled the ability to change your Minecraft username. While this is an amazing feature, I’d like to make a few things clear:

Staff Impersonation is a very serious offense. Don’t try to take a Staff member’s username and attempt to pretend to be said staff member. It’ll get you banned.
User Impersonation is also a very serious offense. We’ll ban anyone who pretends to be someone else, regardless of who’s doing it and who you’re pretending to be.
When you change your username, SMP won’t know who you are and consider you a new user. Your claims, money and inventory are still there, but they’re still assigned to your old username. We’re not entirely sure how we’re going to fix this yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as we do.
